Annual Convention and Trade Show in the Works

While many of you are haying and working away on summer projects the staff at Nevada Cattlemen’s association is looking towards our annual convention in November. This year our convention will be held in Minden. The dates for this year’s 76th annual convention are November 14-16. We are excited to be in a new location this year. The Convention will be held at the Carson Valley Inn, and we look forward to joining the community for several days of meetings, social events, and tours.

We are currently working on reserving speakers, and panels for the different meetings. Please contact the office with any ideas, topics, or individuals that you would like to see during convention. This is a time for members to gather to set policy, learn about new methods and marketing techniques, and to socialize. We are working to make this year bigger and better than it has been in the past. However, we cannot do that without your participation and input.

This year we hope to provide an outstanding Trade Show. The Trade Show will be located in the main lobby of the Carson Valley Inn. This easy and convenient location will allow you to visit vendors during meeting breaks and after lunch. To become a vender at the trade show please contact the Nevada Cattlemen’s Association office at 1-775-738-9214. Currently we have Pro Group Management, Kirby Manufacturing Inc., Greenway Seed, Genex, Destron Fearing, Callicrate Banders, American AgCredit, Nevada State Bank, Moly Manufacturing, USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, Integrated Biological System Services, and Giant Rubber Water Tanks. We look forward to adding your business to the list of the venders for the 76th Annual Nevada Cattlemen’s Association Convention. Please join us this fall to visit with these vendors and more.

Not only are businesses attending the trade show many are supporting the association by sponsoring events. We would like to thank Utah Wool Marketing, Zinpro Corporation, American AgCredit, Intermountain Beef, Nevada State Bank, Stockman’s Insurance, Pinenut Livestock Supply, USDA-NRCS, Resource Concepts, Edward Jones, The Nevada Rancher, Destron Fearing, and McMullen McPhee for their generous sponsorship to our convention.

Without strong support from our allied members and our producer members our convention would not be possible. We appreciate our members and our supporters. This association is making a difference, and we look forward to the tradition living on.

Although the association has been working on convention, the current issues have not escaped our view or attention. The association has been working hard. Here are a few things the association has been working on:

  • NCA Leadership participated in joint meetings with Idaho Cattlemen’s Association regarding common issues during their Mid Year Meeting.
  • NCA provided comments on: China Mt. Wind Project, Clean Water Draft Proposed Guidelines, Preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Tri-State-Calico Complex Wild Horse and Burro Gather Plan, the USFS Planning Rules, The National Cohesive Wildland Fire Management Strategy, Ely Westside Rangeland Project DEIS, and Regulatory Guidance: Applicability of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations to Operators of Certain Farm Vehicles and Off-Road Agricultural Equipment.
  • Meghan Brown participated in a BLM meeting regarding the use of motorized equipment for wild horse gathers. The letter represented the membership of NCA and spoke in support of using helicopters for gather and census purposes.
  • Meghan Brown participated in the N1 Grazing Board Meeting.
  • President Ron Cerri and staff participated in the Board of Agriculture meeting and lunch with Governor Sandoval.
  • NCA staff continues to work on convention and bull sale coordination.
  • NCA volunteer leadership and staff are continually monitoring issues such as wild horse gathers, litigation by radical environmental groups, coordination with other associations and interest groups to send collective messages of support and opposition to issues important to our industry.
